There’s not much more I need to say about this one. I remember when I first heard they were making a “Facebook Movie”, I was a skeptic. Then Aaron Sorkin was brought on to write the script. And David Fincher signed on to direct. I read the source material and then the script. Then the powerful Radiohead/Children’s choir trailer was released. It suddenly skyrocketed to my #1 must see movie of 2010. They early positive buzz is deafening (I repeat, 100% positive reviews so far on RT). Every Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, The Game, etc) movie should be seen. This is a MUST SEE movie and a guaranteed major Oscar contender.
Let Me In
Current Rotten Tomatoes Rating (80%)
I’ve been harsh on the idea of this film. I absolutely loved the original Swedish Let the Right One In. It was perfect in so many ways. It seemed is completely unnecessary to remake a film that released just a few short years ago. That being said, everything I’ve heard about this American remake makes is sound like an acceptable remake. If you refuse to see the brilliant Swedish original — check this one out.
The Bad
Case 39
Current Rotten Tomatoes Rating (22% Fan reviews…has not been screened for critics )
Not a smart move releasing this supposed horror film the same weekend as a mainstream Oscar contender and another hyped horror film. As fun as it might be to laugh at Bradley Cooper as flies come out of every orifice (see the trailer), this looks horrible. And the fact that no critic has seen it is a clear sign.
The Ugly
We are looking pretty this week. Two amazing new choices in theaters. No complaints here.
