Trailer: Green Lantern

I would get murdered saying this in certain circles on the web, but I’m slowly growing tired of the comic book movie adaptations. For every Dark Knight, we get flooded with utterly retarded ones: Fantastic Four (both of them), Wolverine, Daredevil, Catwoman, Iron Man 2, etc.

2011 is the season of the superhero and comic books.

Green Hornet, Priest, Thor, X-Men: First Class, Captain America, Cowboys and Aliens, and Green Lantern. That’s SEVEN superhero movies in one year – FIVE of them coming out within a few months of each other. Let’s not forget the Spiderman and Superman reboots on their way.  It’s too much, right?

In an effort to get ahead of the pack, Warner Bros has released the full movie trailer for Martin Campbell’s DC Comic’s adaptation of Green Lantern. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, and Tim Robbins — I’m firmly placing this in the category of the horrible Fantastic Four franchise based on this trailer. I don’t care what the fanboys scream — this does not look good.  It’s a generic “paint by numbers” trailer that leaves me with nothing but a furrowed brow and a blank stare. I’m a sucker for a good trailer, but this trailer is doing the sucking.

Do you like questionable CGI? Do you want to be bombarded by aliens, cheesy jokes, and Blake Lively ruining all the street cred she gained in The Town? Nerds across the planet will make you believe this is the real deal. It is not. The box office this summer will prove my point.
