Youth In Revolt Pushed to January 2010; No longer 2009 Obsession

Our 2009 Obsession list is quickly dwindling. First Shutter Island was pushed into 2010. Now the Michael Cera alter ego mustache wearing film, Youth In Revolt, has been pushed to January 2010.

Youth In Revolt Trailer
This one seems like it can go either way — horribly bad or really great. We’ve gotta say we like the Francois look on Michael Cera.
“Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) is a cynical sex-obsessed 16-year-old who, while on vacation in a trailer park, meets Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday), an intellectual. But the only things really standing in his way is Sheeni’s poetry-writing, ex-boyfriend Trent and his ignorant divorced parents (Steve Buscemi and Jean Smart), and Mom’s boyfriends (Zack Galifianakis and Ray Liotta)”
First Look: Youth In Revolt

To our suprise, this film is not about the Iranian election protests going on. It’s the new Dimension Films movie based on the 1993 novel that had has a cult following. This is your first look at the newly released teaser poster that launches their marketing campaign around the film. Hopefully the dismal reviews of Year One do not put a damper on the Michael Cera “brand”. We have not read the book, but friends have said that the “R” rating the film received is on point with the sex/drugs in the book.
