Trailer: 127 Hours
A few weeks ago, Fox Searchlight released the teaser trailer to Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours. Although visually stunning (as you can expect from Boyle), it had a strange comic vibe for a film with such a downer subject matter. Franco seemed to be more in his General Hospital / SNL schtick more than serious acting. They have now released the first official trailer. The first half has the same upbeat vibe — that is, until we get smacked in the face with the haunting sounds of Band of Horses “The Funeral.” This is what I was looking for all along. The 1:02 mark through the end is pure trailer perfection. The cynics watching it this will probably laugh and call it sappy. Anyone who watched the 2 hr Dateline special on Aron Ralston knows differently. Is James Franco finally going to get the awards recognition he deserves? Check out the trailer after the jump.
The official IMDB synopsis:
A mountain climber becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive.
I’d say “desperate” would be an understatement.
